Barr-Nunn Driver Participates in Toys-for-Tots
South Bend, IN – December 8, 2007
During Christmas 2007, Barr-Nunn Company Driver Warren Travers participated in Toys-for-Tots. Toys-for-Tots is a program run by the US Marine Corps Reserve and its mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, & December each year. Volunteers from all over participate in this philanthropy in the spirit of the holidays. The toys are given out to underprivileged children in the community. Barr-Nunn has partnered with the Marine Corps for the past few years. This year, the program took place on Saturday, December 8th in South Bend, Indiana.
Warren Travers drove a truck filled with toys to deliver. He originally got involved with Toys-for-Tots because his nephew is a Marine. Though the previous years had been plagued with bad weather and tragic times, such as hurricane Katrina, this year went extremely smooth and was the most successful the program has been in a while. They collected over 10,000 toys for numerous children. The program this year took place in the parking lot of the NBC Channel 6 Team Studio.
Warren Travers offers his services out of the good of his heart. He understands that there are some people in the world who aren’t as privileged as others and he loves to help. When asked about his favorite part of the whole thing, Warren said, “This is a great way to give back to your local community.” Warren also stated during an interview that it is the satisfaction of helping children out during the holiday season that motivates him.
