Barr-Nunn Transportation was recently audited by the Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The audit focused on compliance and regulatory processes. When the multi-day audit was complete, Barr-Nunn was found to be in full compliance with the Department of Transportation's requirements. Zero violation points were given in all 6 factors tested and Barr-Nunn was subsequently awarded the highest possible rating of "Satisfactory".

Granger, IA -August 2010-Barr-Nunn Transportation, a transportation industry leader, is proud to be aiding the United States Marine Corps at the forthcoming Corps League National Convention. As longtime supporters of the Marines, Barr-Nunn will be volunteering the services of one of its Marine Corp Trailers, which is to be placed at the entrance of the convention.

The Marine Corps League Convention is the 87th of its kind and will be taking place throughout the week of August 8th at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro, NC. The theme of this year's festivities will be a tribute to John Archer Lejeune, the founder and first commandant of the League as well as a man often hailed as the "greatest of all Leathernecks" and the "Marine's Marine."

The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 and is comprised of nearly 80,000 honorably discharged, active duty, retired and Reserve Marines. The League currently includes members who have worked to protect our great nation as far back as World War II as well as those still serving today. The League is pleased to be holding this year's gathering in North Carolina, the state housing the United State's largest population of Marines and Marine Corps Veterans.

For all drivers referred by a Barr-Nunn Driver or Owner Operator the following program will be in effect until 9/17/10. For referrals that are hired drivers will earn $500 up front, $0.02 per mile for that drivers miles (paid weekly) and an additional $500 after the new driver celebrates 4 months with Barr-Nunn. Barr-Nunn drivers and Owner Operators can earn up to $1800 per driver referral.

Barr-Nunn is extending the offer of Orientation to new drivers in Columbus OH to the week of 7/12/10 and 7/26/10. We will provide you with transportation via Greyhound bus at our expense. We have arranged a local cab service to transport you from the Greyhound bus station to your hotel. If you prefer to drive yourself we will pay for that as well. Barr-Nunn will put you up at our hotel. You will have your own room. Our hotel will provide a free continental breakfast. Barr-Nunn will provide lunch at our terminal during class both days. Four of our experienced drivers have safely driven more than one million miles for the company, with driver Michael "Winn" Holt reaching the two million mile mark last month. Drivers James Settle, Curtis Reynolds and Harry Campbell all reached the 1.5 million mile mark with the carrier. Holt was extremely excited about reaching the two million mile mark after 17 years with the company. "I was so happy about it, I knew I was getting close." "It is quite an accomplishment for a driver to reach that many miles safely and without an accident," says Campbell. "Barr-Nunn is a really good company, they really try to keep us loaded and we're with them for so long that they just keep us running because they know we will get the job done for them." A Barr-Nunn driver for the last 10 years, Reynolds says that he feels lucky that he reached the milestone without an incident. . "I think there's is a great degree of luck involved in this because there seems to be plenty of opportunities where it could have all gone South," he adds. He says the achievement was a real celebration for him. "I feel great about this. It's something that I really set out to do and didn't think I ever would get it done," says driver James Settle. "Safety should be an aspect more drivers concentrate on. Barr Nunn is great company to work for, I've worked here almost 17 years and I believe by staying around for this long it proves that there is something here."

We offer a Sign-on bonus to all new and rehired contractors or employees. We do this because the transition between companies costs the driver money. The reason we have our sign-on bonus so high right now is that we need more drivers to haul the heavy volume of freight we have and are being asked to haul. We also use a large amount to attract the highly qualified individuals because they are worth the expense.

Our sign-on payment schedule is simple. You get your 1st half on your 1st paycheck which is the Friday the week after orientation and you get the second half of your bonus the pay period following 120 days of being leased on to or employed by Barr-Nunn. Now keep in mind you will also receive other bonuses before this mark if you are an Owner Operator (30,000 mile Performance Bonus) and shortly after this mark as a company driver (60,000 mile Appreciation Bonus). We believe you always need to be earning a little more in your paycheck if we expect you to stay with us.
